If you’re a Parks and Recreation fan like me, you’ll know the meaning of these 3 words: treat. yo. self. And that’s exactly what me and some of the Thread ladies did at Sia Spa.
This past Tuesday, we partnered with the local Kenwood medical spa + salon to put together a fabulous night of pampering: Bloggers, Bubbles and Blowouts. Because who doesn’t love to break up a stressful work week with champagne and a blowout?
As part of the event, Sia Spa offered some amazing deals on their variety of services, including $15 manicures, $25 blowouts, $45 Dermaplane and even some complimentary ones, too! I treated myself to a manicure (definitely buying this color) plus an eyebrow threading (#BrowsOnFleek).
Everyone at Sia was friendly, welcoming and willing to answer any questions we had about their plethora of services. As a girl who doesn’t often treat herself, I will definitely be back for a facial, massage or even a blowout soon!
Welp, I did it again… I let the busy life (and occasional laziness) get the best of me. So now it’s been two weeks since my last post! *Note to self: Be more accountable.*
Ranting aside, it has been a crazy couple of weeks. I’m finally settled into my new apartment and have the next few weekends booked with fun trips. Needless to say, I’ve been planning outfits like a crazy woman!
Enter one of my favorite go-to pieces for this summer/fall: the denim romper. Dress it up or down, this thing is going to get so much wear! You can wear it on its own with some bright accessories for a summery look, or layer it up with a chunky cardigan and felt hat for a more fall-inspired outfit. The possibilities are endless!
As I start thinking about transitioning my looks to fall, I know this olive vest will be a wardrobe staple for many months to come. I purchased it last summer and have worn it to death ever since.
Though my boyfriend makes fun, saying I look like a safari photographer (is that even a thing?), I’m still in love with this vest. And olive. You’ll definitely see this color popping up in my fall outfits!
One of my first blog posts was about transitioning your look for the changing seasons. Especially for summer to fall, I’m a firm believer in the “one long, one short”rule: either a tank/short sleeve top with pants or a long-sleeve top/sweater with shorts. And #layers. With those in mind, I created this go-to transitional look. Enjoy!
I’ve always hated the idea of fashion trends. They come and go so frequently, making them fickle and limiting.
Think early 2000s: stretchy gaucho pants, obscenely-worded graphic tees, sequin bucket bags. Besides maybe your overalls, denim skirts and chokers (#comeback), have you worn these in the past decade? Probably not. And if you haven’t gotten rid of them by now, they’re sitting in your closet, collecting dust. #guilty
But one trend I’m loving (and don’t see going “out of style” anytime soon): pattern mixing.
At first, I didn’t know how to make this trend work for me. I’ve seen some crazy mixing that I thought I could never pull off. I learned that the trick is to mix a bold pattern with a more subtle pattern. That way, you don’t look like you got dressed in the dark!
So for this look, I paired one of my favorite basic tees with an old favorite, this Urban Outfitters floral triangle scarf.
Sadly, there’s only one month left of my favorite season. *tear*
On the bright side, I plan to fully embrace the “basic girl” stereotype this fall: sweaters, scarves, flannels, duck boots, pumpkin spice. But for now, I’m getting every last wear out of my summer clothes, starting with this colorful tank from Target!
As most Target trips go, I went with a strict game plan: Buy only what you came for and stay far, far away from the clothes! And just as quickly as I made that plan, it went right out the window. I stumbled across this top, and ended up with two more dresses in my hand… oops!
But #noregrets here. I’ve gotten so much wear out of this tank as well as a bunch of compliments. So I’d call that a win 🙂
