Influencer Night at Teller’s of Hyde Park

Ever since I moved to Cincinnati 6 years ago, Teller’s of Hyde Park has been one of my favorite go-to dinner spots. From dining as an out-of-towner, a college student and now a resident Hyde Parker, I think I’ve tried at least half of the menu items. Though I have my obvious favorites (I’m lookin’ at you Buffalo Chicken Eggrolls) I always like to try something different and let me tell you … it never disappoints!

Last week, I was honored to attend an exclusive Influencer Night at Teller’s. While there, I got the lowdown on their NEW food and drink menus. They only change up their menu 1-2 times per year, so you’ve gotta go try these new items for yourself!

Teller’s is located in the iconic Hyde Park Square, nestled amongst other local eateries, bars and boutiques. Inspired by its former glory as the Hyde Park Savings and Loan Building, the ambiance, decor and even some of the cocktails are an ode to the good ol’ banking days.

For example, some of their new summer cocktails include the Pretty Boy Floyd, Sundance Kid, Jesse James and Clyde Barrow – all names of infamous bank robbers. Clever, right? Of these new cocktails, I highly recommend the Bonnie Parker. It’s an Aperol-based cocktail complete with homemade raspberry preserves and frozen raspberries for garnish … it tastes like summer in a glass, perfect for their outdoor patio!

We were seated in The Vault … yes, you heard that right! They literally turned the old bank vault into an event space for luncheons, parties and more. With new entrees like the Shrimp Étouffée, Hurley’s Hot Chicken and Ribeye Chimichurri, it was hard to choose, but I ended up with the hot chicken … yum-o! And if you don’t order the Buffalo Chicken Eggrolls to start (but why wouldn’t you?) then definitely get the Spanish Mussels, topped with chorizo and a white wine cream sauce. It was like a fiesta en mi boca! 😀

Moral of the story: If you haven’t been to Teller’s yet, go! Right now. You won’t be disappointed. And if you’re a Teller’s regular like me, still go. There are so many new things to try, it will be like a whole new dining experience. I promise!

Thanks to Teller’s of Hyde Park for wining and dining me and a guest! Though our delicious meal was comped, all opinions are my own and were not influenced by this compensation.

Ohio Wine Month at Vinoklet Winery

It’s officially June … can you believe it? I sure can’t! In addition to being the official start of summer, June is also Ohio Wine Month! (You can read last year’s post here.) This year, I decided to visit Vinoklet Winery in Colerain … and it did not disappoint.Ohio Wine Month at Vinoklet Winery

The grounds are a true, picturesque representation of what you’d imagine a winery to be! Rolling hills, gazebos, greenery galore and of course, miles and miles of grape vines.

As soon as we arrived, my friend Hannah and I took turns photo opp-ing, then we turned our attention to the main event: the wine! I’m a sucker for sweet whites, and since it was especially hot and humid, I sipped on the Sweet Jackie (blueberry) and the In Vino Veritas (riesling). Unlike me, Hannah prefers big and bold reds, so she had the Cincinnatus (dry red) and Brother Joe (cabernet).

Though we would’ve preferred to keep the glasses coming, our trip was cut a bit short as we couldn’t crash the wedding taking place … so more photos we took!

With 260+ wineries that call O-H-I-O home, now’s the perfect time to explore an Ohio winery near you. And if wine wasn’t incentive enough, if you share a picture on social this month at a winery or enjoying an Ohio wine with #30CheersOH and #OhioWine, you could win a wine-related gift like gift certificates, souvenirs and more!

So what are you waiting for? Get out there, and start enjoying all the wine the Buckeye State has to offer 🙂

Compensation for this post was provided by Hello. Thank you!

Travel Guide: Nashville

Hello CFOC readers, old and new!

After a longer-than-expected blog hiatus, I’m back and ready to share a travel guide from my recent trip to Nashville. In this post, I’m recapping some of the best sights, sounds and scenes of the Music City… in my opinion, of course 🙂 Let’s get started:

Travel Guide: Nashville | Closet Full of Cocktails

Restaurants

Hattie B’s Hot ChickenIf you don’t go anywhere else in Nashville, make sure you make it to Hattie B’s. Featured on the Food Network, known for its signature Nashville hot chicken, Hattie B’s is definitely worth the *inevitable* wait.

Merchants: As seen on the TV show Nashville, Merchants is a 3-story restaurant in the heart of all the honky-tonk action! The bottom floor is the most casual dining experience. (The higher up you go, the more upscale it gets, with the top floor being a private dining space.) Though I’ve only dined on the first floor, the food (and bar) is spectacular. I would definitely recommend the Duck Fat Tater Tots, Grilled Chicken Sandwich, and enjoy the yummy complementary jalapeño popcorn.

The PharmacyHands down, best burger in town. The portions are huge and the prices are reasonable. There’s an adorable outdoor patio adorned with string lights, and they even make their own soda pops!

Little DonkeyAfter stumbling upon the up-and-coming foodie scene of Germantown, we decided to give this place a try for dinner. My sparkling margarita (with prosecco) was delicious, and the chicken nachos (smothered in queso blanco) were out of this world. As is with any boutique Mexican spot, the tacos were on the smaller side, but were yummy nonetheless.

Jack’s BBQ: Though Nashville isn’t known as one of the barbeque meccas of the States, it’s filled with some damn good BBQ joints! Many of the locals recommended Edley’s, but we opted for Jack’s instead. With 3 locations, including one on Broadway, this is a definite must-stop.

Bars

The Patterson House: Warning: Be prepared to spend a pretty penny on drinks, knowing it’s totally worth it! This cocktail – the “In-Flight Movie” – was hands down one of the best cocktails I’ve ever consumed. And that’s not even me being dramatic. We also saw Bob Saget chilling in the corner, so that was fun too 😉 #CelebSighting

Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge: Voted the #1 honky-tonk in the world, Tootsie’s is a mandatory stop on your tour of Nashville. This 4-floor bar has live music everywhere you turn, and the service is impeccable considering it’s always packed. And in case you didn’t know, all of the bands performing at honky-tonks play for tips (the bars don’t pay them) so be sure to bring cash!

Legends Corner: Once you leave Tootsie’s, turn right and stumble your way next door. Though I’ve only been twice, both times the music was incredible… so do your ears a favor and take in the tunes of Legends.

Acme Feed & SeedTalk about a unique place! The expansive building houses multi-level dining, a ginormous rooftop bar, and a radio station. Possibly the best part: a full sushi menu for rooftop-goers.

George Jones Museum: Yes, despite the name, I meant to put this under the “Bars” category. We didn’t check out any of the exhibits (under construction). Instead, we trekked up to the top floor for “The George” rooftop bar, overlooking the Cumberland River. Good drinks, better view!

Other Sights to See

Grand Ole Opry HouseEven if you’re not a huge country music fan – Lord knows I’m not – you’ll be blown away by this place. On my first trip to Nashville, we took a backstage tour, which included walking out on the stage where so many incredible musicians have performed. Definitely worth a visit!

Opry Mills Outlet Mall: Here I scored a $450 Kate Spade dress for $100. Need I say more?

Union Station HotelThough we didn’t stay here, we took a gander inside after falling in love with the exterior. As you can see, the interior did not disappoint either!

Antique Archaeology: This was a special stop for my dad, a.k.a. home of the American Pickers antique finds. And you know what? It was pretty damn cool. The neighborhood it’s in, Marathon Village, is also worth a visit! Right down the street are two distilleries: Corsair and Nelson’s Green Brier.

Until next time, Nashville! What are your favorite spots in the Music City? Share your favorites in the comments below 🙂

Finery Boutique

I’m a sucker for exploring new spots in the city, especially in Over-the-Rhine, so when I stumbled across a new storefront on Walnut, I was super excited to check it out.

Enter Finery.

It’s a dress rental boutique, so instead of buying fabulous designer dresses in store, you can rent them for a short period of time.

Sound familiar? Though I love Rent the Runway, I hate that I can’t try on the dresses in person. Yes, they’ve been starting to create showrooms, but only in bigger cities… which means if I order a dress and hate how it fits, I’m just wasting money. (And nobody’s got time for that!)

Finery offers Cincinnati residents access to contemporary designer dresses – like Saylor, Yumi Kim, Likely and Greylin – for a fraction of the cost! Like this red beauty: retails for $215, rents for only $60. Did someone say holiday party?

Most of the dresses at Finery rent for $60 or less, with rental prices ranging from $25 to $100. The standard dress rental period is four days, but you can rent longer for an additional fee. And while you’re able to rent Finery’s dresses on the spot, it’s recommended to reserve your dress in advance… just in case someone else falls in love with it.

And don’t forget the accessories… because no outfit is complete without a little bling! Finery offers some beautiful baubles, like these:

I’ll definitely be back to scope out holiday party options – and you should, too! And be sure to follow Finery on Instagram for their latest inventory. Happy renting! 🙂
