Discovering Spring at Cincinnati Premium Outlets + Giveaway!

The love of outlet malls is practically in my blood. To give some perspective, the women in my family take multiple road trips each year, strictly for the sake of hitting up outlets across the country. And who can blame us? Everyone loves the thrill of a good bargain hunt, right?

Since moving to Cincinnati, I’ve taken several of my own road trips to the Cincinnati Premium Outlets in Monroe, Ohio. As I mentioned above, I’ve been to a fair share of outlet malls in my lifetime, but the Cincinnati Outlets are by far one of the best I’ve seen. Some other outlets only have a handful of stores that I would normally shop at, but the CPO has so many more… often making my trips a whole lot lengthier!

My fellow Thread Cincinnati ladies and I were invited by the Cincinnati Premium Outlets for an exclusive blogger event, which was such an honor to be a part of! So last week, I ventured back in search of some closet staples for spring. With a strict budget in mind, I was determined to put together an entire outfit for $100 or less. So how did I do?

First stop was Nine West. There was a serious sale going on — 50% off all shoes! In addition, as part of the Simon Premium Outlets VIP Shopper Club (which is free, btw…) we scored an additional 20% off our $100+ purchase. In total, these navy Jet Set alligator-patterned sandals were only $39.50, and quickly became the inspiration for the rest of my outfit!

Next was Banana Republic. I found this striped, eyelet crop blouse in the Petites section. Eyelet is totally trending for spring, and it went perfectly with my new shoes! Total cost: $13.49.

Then finally, as all good shopping trips end, I finished off at J. Crew Factory. I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect white jeans, and as luck would have it, I spotted these right in the front of the store. To finish off the look in true Chelsea fashion, I picked out this floral statement necklace. It also comes in pink, yellow and turquoise, but I went on the safe side and chose the pearl/grey. All together, the jeans and necklace came to $72.03.

For those of you keeping score at home, my entire outfit cost less than $130. Though I went a bit over my initial budget (oops…) I was still extremely impressed. A ready-to-go spring look for that price is almost unheard of these days! So if you want to grab some of the pieces from this look, head on over to your local Simon Premium Outlets now! And if you want some spending cash for your trip, check out the giveaway below 🙂

Spring Cleaning with Poshmark

It’s really starting to feel like spring here in Cincinnati. Rain, rain, go away… But thanks to this dreary weather, I’ve been motivated to jumpstart my spring cleaning! Though I’ve only tackled my closet so far, you have to start somewhere… right?

My greatest new discovery is Poshmark, a website (and app) that allows you to easily buy and sell your gently-used, “never-going-to-wear-this-again” clothing and accessories! Honestly, I’ve never been a huge fan of taking clothes to consignment stores — I always get frustrated knowing what I paid for something and receiving very little in return. I’d much rather donate than get a lowball offer.

On the other hand, Poshmark is a much better choice for ridding of my unwanted clothes. I’ve been a bit strapped for cash lately, so PM offers the best of both worlds — downsizing my closet and getting paid for it! After downloading the free app, I simply used the in-app camera to take pictures, write brief descriptions (color, wear, wash instructions, etc.) and price them accordingly. In less than an hour, my Poshmark closet was complete.

Almost immediately, I received my first offer! Buyers can either buy at the price you set, or submit an offer to negotiate with the seller. The buyer pays for shipping and PM sends the seller a pre-paid shipping label via email. Once the buyer receives your item(s), the money is added to your account and voila – you made your first sale! You can redeem your money via bank direct deposit or check.

Shortly after my first sale, I made my first purchase… oops! This may be the only downfall of Poshmark, if you don’t have much self-control like me 🙂 I bought two J. Crew button-downs for less than the price of one! I’d say that’s a good deal. The shirts came in 2-3 days and were in fabulous condition!

There’s also a “bundle” feature, where buyers can request multiple items from a seller and save on shipping. Though I’m still learning more about Poshmark and its features, so far it’s been a very user-friendly and positive experience. If you’re looking to start cleaning out your closet, I highly recommend using Poshmark!

How to Dress for Changing Seasons

It’s shaping up to be a warm winter… Thanks, El Niño! (Now that I actually know what it means when people say that…)

As a tribute to this unseasonable warmth, I’m throwing it back to a late September outfit: when it was supposed to be fall, but felt like summer! Whenever the weather is transitioning, it can be hard to decide what to wear.

Transitioning Seasons Outfit | Closet Full of Cocktails

For the not-too-hot, not-too-cold weather, I stand by two rules:

  1. Layers, layers, layers. If it gets too hot, you can take something off. Too cold? Put something back on! For this outfit I added a light, cotton scarf as my one and only layer.
  2. One long; one short. Pair a tank with pants or a long-sleeve with shorts! It will balance out the outfit without making you overheat (or freeze).
