Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you know that this Friday marks the Netflix premiere of the Gilmore Girls revival: A Year in the Life.
Though I’m fairly new to the GG fan club, I wanted to do something in honor of this momentous occasion.
So I’m putting my own twist Rory’s 21st signature birthday cocktail… minus the champagne and pineapple juice. It’s still as sweet as can be – just like Miss Gilmore – but this one is not disgusting! Beware: Drinking too many of these may result in a Kirk-level sugar hangover 🙂
- 1/4 cup water (to prep rim of glass)
- 1/4 cup white sugar, granulated (for rim)
- 1 ounce vodka
- 1/2 ounce grenadine
- 3 ounces pink lemonade (regular or sparkling)
- Cocktail shaker
- Pinch of lime juice (optional)
- Choice of fruit to garnish (I used strawberries and blackberries)
Prep Glass: In 2 small plates or shallow bowls, place sugar in one and water in the other. Using a martini glass, dip the rim of the glass slightly into the water, then immediately into the sugar. Give it a gentle twist until the rim is completely covered in sugar.
Mix Drink: Add ice to a shaker until about halfway full. Pour in vodka and grenadine.
Place lid on shaker and shake until well blended.
Remove lid, add pink lemonade and gently stir.
Serve: Pour into prepared martini glass. Garnish with your choice of fruit and add a dash of fresh lime juice, if desired.
I’m a sucker for exploring new spots in the city, especially in Over-the-Rhine, so when I stumbled across a new storefront on Walnut, I was super excited to check it out.
It’s a dress rental boutique, so instead of buying fabulous designer dresses in store, you can rent them for a short period of time.
Sound familiar? Though I love Rent the Runway, I hate that I can’t try on the dresses in person. Yes, they’ve been starting to create showrooms, but only in bigger cities… which means if I order a dress and hate how it fits, I’m just wasting money. (And nobody’s got time for that!)
Finery offers Cincinnati residents access to contemporary designer dresses – like Saylor, Yumi Kim, Likely and Greylin – for a fraction of the cost! Like this red beauty: retails for $215, rents for only $60. Did someone say holiday party?
Most of the dresses at Finery rent for $60 or less, with rental prices ranging from $25 to $100. The standard dress rental period is four days, but you can rent longer for an additional fee. And while you’re able to rent Finery’s dresses on the spot, it’s recommended to reserve your dress in advance… just in case someone else falls in love with it.
And don’t forget the accessories… because no outfit is complete without a little bling! Finery offers some beautiful baubles, like these:
I’ll definitely be back to scope out holiday party options – and you should, too! And be sure to follow Finery on Instagram for their latest inventory. Happy renting! 🙂
Today is not just the first of November, it’s my first ever blogiversary! I can’t believe it’s already been one whole year since I took that leap of faith and created Closet Full of Cocktails.
What started as an outlet of creative necessity has become a personal passion of mine. I’m proud to be a blogger, an entrepreneur, a self-starter. Proud of how far my content has come. And most of all, proud of how much confidence I’ve gained along the way.
But enough of the sappiness, and onto the fun! And what better way to celebrate than to throw it back to my first CFOC post: 3 Flannels, 3 Ways. Without even realizing it, I bought three more flannels this season… because you can never have too many. Subconsciously, I must’ve had the idea to recreate my first post all along 🙂
So with my favorite celebratory accessories in tow, here are 3 more flannels, 3 more ways:

2. ALL LEATHER EVERYTHING

Finally – it feels like fall here in Cincy! I’ve happily stored away my summer tanks to make room for my fall sweaters and scarves. And with my seasonal cleanout came a closet assessment: Which of my favorite fall staples are missing?
- A chunky knit turtleneck
- Open-toed booties, preferably in black
- Another vest (I may have an addiction…)
So off to the Cincinnati Premium Outlets I went, along with some of my fellow Thread ladies, in search of these fall pieces!
First stop: Nine West. I always find the best shoes at the CPO location in Monroe, and this trip was no exception. It was a tough decision between these beautiful OTK suede boots or these black open-toed booties, but I opted to stick to the “list” and go with the booties.
My second (and last) stop was J. Crew Factory. It’s never hard for me to find something there, and I usually end up leaving with multiple purchases in tow. Oops!
And luckily enough, I found the other two things on my list: a chunky knit turtleneck and puffer vest. I’ve been lusting over this herringbone vest for the past few years, so it was about time to add it to my closet. And my latest obsession with camel-colored everything drew me to this turtleneck. Top it off with tortoise shell earrings and my look was complete!
In addition to these fabulous finds, I bought:
Vest: J. Crew Factory || Turtleneck: J. Crew Factory || Jeans: American Eagle || Booties: Nine West || Earrings: J. Crew Factory (N/A online: similar)
One lucky Thread Cincinnati follower will win a $250 gift card to the Simon Premium Outlets near them! To enter:

Special thanks to Simon Premium Outlets for providing me with a $100 gift card to shop for my outfit as well as a $250 gift card to give away to our Thread Cincinnati followers. As always, all opinions are my own.
I recently spent the weekend in Atlanta for a work-related trip. While there, I wore this *amazingly comfortable* Ohio shirt from The Direction, a new apparel and novelty shop at Kenwood Towne Centre.
So many people on the streets of ATL yelled “O-H” as I walked by. Of course, I responded with “I-O!” just as a good Ohio transplant would 🙂
There was an endless amount of beautiful spots in Atlanta, so I couldn’t pass up the opportunity for a photo shoot. Here’s one of my favorite looks I styled with my uber soft and comfortable tee!
Top: The Direction c/o || Flannel: Old Navy (on sale now!) || Jeans: GAP || Boots: Express (similar) || Purse: Kate Spade || Watch: Michael Kors
The Direction is known for their super soft city and state pride apparel, but also sell novelty items in store, like coasters, mugs, jewelry and more. Needless to say, I’ll be back to pick up some gifts for my O-H-I-O friends soon.
You can check out their newest brick-and-mortar location at Kenwood by Nordstrom, shop online at shopthedirection.com or check out their Instagram for more of their fabulous tees.
Thanks Joelle (Le Cartier) for the beautiful photos. And special thanks to The Direction for the free t-shirt! As always, all opinions are my own.

You know when you spot something in the store and immediately know you’re going home with it in *almost* every color? That’s how I felt when I laid my eyes on this mockneck tank (the turtleneck’s little sister, if you will). Not only is it one of the comfiest basics I’ve ever owned, it’s super versatile and slimming… what’s not to love?
Though I showed some restraint and only got it in two colors, I’ll definitely be back for more mocktanks before the season’s over!
To show how versatile this basic piece really is, here’s one way to style it from day to night, featuring my other current obsession: olive green.
Mockneck: GAP || Vest: Old Navy (similar) || Jeans: GAP || Sandals: Target || Necklace: Kendra Scott
It’s 5 o’clock… time to change!
Simply swap the vest for a bomber jacket and the sandals for some open-toed mules, and you’re ready for a night out 🙂
Mockneck: GAP || Jacket: Francesca’s (similar, also in pink!) || Jeans: GAP || Mules: Old Navy (similar, on sale!) || Necklace: Kendra Scott
